Larger Than Life is a consignment store in the Northlake Shopping Center that carries exclusively women’s plus sizes and accessories. It has been voted the second best resale shop in Dallas by WFAA. The store has been in business for fifteen years and has been under the ownership of Alice Sevier for the past two years. She was looking for a job in Dallas when she came across the store. It was “divine intervention,” Alice says. “It was meant to be.” She loves that the store is always different. The store takes in sixty new pieces of clothes everyday, so the clothes are never the same. There is always a variety to choose from. Since she has owned the store, 800 new consignors have worked with Larger Than Life. “If you ever want to be pampered,” Alice says, “come see my two wonderful employees, Ellen and Pamela.” Alice enjoys meeting all the different people that come into the store and the community atmosphere of Lake Highlands. She describes Lake Highlands as being “its own niche in a big city.” Alice competed in the Mrs. Plus America 2010 Beauty Pageant on May 29 and May 30. This was her first time in the competition. She currently holds the Mrs. Dallas Texas Plus America title.
